First Day of Work (Ever)!

Note that when I say 'chinese' I am referring to the Chinese government. [Edit.]

I'm made history today. Well, personal history. Today at the age of sixteen (and a half?) I have taken a step towards adulthood (although the actual displacement is left to debate). At 8:00 PM I ventured out into the Urban wilderness of Flushing, New York City and shuffled my way (for I was on heels) to work. I was breathless by the time I reached there because I underestimated the amount of time I'd need to reach my working place. The first two hours was a dizzying whir of activities, but after a few hours and odd jobs, I feel like I'm getting the hang of it. I like this job. After work is completed I don't feel completely depleted. In fact, I feel like I had a mental workout. One that I needed. For if I did not have a job this month, I would have wasted all that time away like last year, playing video games and letting my brain rot. So being a teacher's assistant is a pretty good thing. I get paid well apparently (but as I am new to this manifestation of independence, I can only rely on other experiences for judgment) for my job. And the children that I look after are the good handful, a bit restless maybe, but completely tolerable. I like working there. And I am happy. Good for me! I wonder if I will last the month. But I do believe I can. And I believe I will acquire great experience from taking this class. =) I am happy that my friend referred me to the job, although I am sad that she is on vacation and am not there to help me.

Maybe you can learn from me (y'all who are younger, or those who as of now have no jobs). It doesn't need to be paid, but when you have time, DO something. Do something that'll have a lasting effect on the future. Try to have a new experience. You may not think you are wasting time, but time always wastes you. So, do something! I was stuck watching youtube videos, and leveling my level 97 DK on Maplestory (all gaming jibberish, you need not understand) for HOURS. Now I work and get paid, study for the ACT, getting ready to apply for college and preparing for the writing examination to get my learning driver permit.

Do something.
